The interplay of water and wind carved in wood

 

The moment a gust of wind sweeps across the water is often a special sight, and not just for windsurfers, kitesurfers, and wingfoilers. The wind becomes visible in the water, making it dance in a unique way. We love watching this spectacle. With "Wind Waves," we want to capture a piece of this moment and bring it into your home.

Each wave is hand-carved into the wood, creating a relief that appears differently depending on the light. Depending on the angle and intensity of the light, the waves appear sometimes more pronounced, sometimes more subtle. Our favorite: light from above. :)

Since each piece is made individually, differences in wave shape, wave progression, grain, and small carving marks make each piece unique. Small traces of handcraft are deliberately left visible, emphasizing the natural character of the wood. The wave reliefs shown in the photos are examples. Each piece has its own character and is unique, like every wave on the water.

Inspired by waves, wind, and light

The bright, understated look of aspen allows the hand-carved waves to take center stage without drawing attention to itself. This is exactly what we like about this wood: depending on the incidence of light, new shadows and contours are constantly created on the relief, making the wave play appear sometimes more distinct, sometimes more subtle.

A small piece of wood, in which we capture something of what always fascinates us out on the water: the interplay of waves, wind, and light.

Where do the waves look best?

Due to their small format, the wave reliefs can be placed quite flexibly. We think the waves look best when positioned so that light shines on them from above.
How does the surface feel?

The sides and back are sanded multiple times. This preserves the natural feel and makes the surface pleasantly smooth.
When will I receive my order?

The wave reliefs are shipped directly from us. This means there are no waiting times for production. We will dispatch your order as quickly as possible. Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.
How is the wave relief shipped?

The wave relief is carefully wrapped in packing paper and shipped in a sturdy cardboard box. We use paper-based packing tape to seal the box.
